What are Rejuvenating Writing Circles?

Rejuvenating writing circles are places where transformation and healing can take place. It’s a simple process: listen, write, read, and witness. We learn to bypass the critical mind and let the pen fearlessly take us where our soul leads. This space is intimate, safe, and sacred. There is no judgment here. No critique. There is no pressure to write well, only to write truthfully.

I discovered wild writing during the pandemic and it was what kept me grounded. Through these times of constant change, it helps to have a set time to write, express, and be with a group that will deeply listen. We give no feedback on what is being shared. We listen deeply to each other and bear witness to your journey.

You do not need to be a writer. People that enjoy journaling will love this. If you are a writer, it is invaluable to keep a steady practice. I know many writers that use these writing circles to get in better attunement with their authentic being, and later write memoirs, poems, or personal essays from the thoughts that originated on these pages.

About me:

I am a freelance writer and poet.  I have always enjoyed creative arts. Currently, I am part of the social media team for Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine. I am also co-chair of Burlington Writer’s workshop.

What people are saying:

I had never heard of Wild Writing before Janet’s class and I found it to be a unique and interesting experience. In each class, Janet reads a selection of interesting and varied poems and provides “jump-off” lines to help you to get started with writing “whatever comes to mind” for a set period of time. Our job in writing is to write only for ourselves and to be open to whatever comes up. I found the process of “just writing” to be really freeing. It surprised me the topics that came to my mind and how themes ran through my writing that I didn’t expect. If you’re thinking of trying Wild Writing with Janet – go for it!

Wild Writing with Janet offers gentle insight into your heart and mind. Janet begins each session with a brief centering meditation that brings the writer to present moment awareness. She then reads selected poems and invites participants to write what comes without stopping to think or craft the words. The experience of allowing the poem to move through you and inform your writing can amaze even the writer, as you reveal your thoughts on a deeper level.

When I think of writing I am usually filled with dread and anxiety. This course, however, was so much fun; it completely took me by surprise. Having permission to focus on my truth and not on writing skills was so freeing. These writing practices were very helpful and revealing. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has had a bad experience with writing, to give it a try. Janet is very professional and provides an inviting safe space.
